What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one. I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now the one who plants and the one who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
1 Corinthians 3:5-9

I believe as Christian educators, we are called to the tasks of planting and watering seeds of faith and learning in the lives of our students. It is a daunting task, a holy task, and a task that is entirely dependent on the provision of God the Father.

In 2021 I began a monthly newsletter with the aim of helping Christian teachers with resources, tips, and encouragement. Although I’m writing from the perspective of a teacher at a Christian school, my hope is that even public educators who are Christians will find it useful!

Q + A

Why write a newsletter?

Mainly because I felt a calling to do so! This job is hard, and I have found that there are few resources that are specifically geared toward encouraging the Christian school teacher. I’m blessed to be at a tremendous school with a great professional learning community, but many don’t have the resources or access I have. I want to share what I’ve got.

What sort of things will be on this newsletter?

Whatever I gather that month! I hope that there will be a mix of personal encouragement, tools for the classroom, articles, and insightful ideas. Basically I just want to communicate the sort of things I would say if we were co-workers! There might be ed tech ideas, academic journal article reviews, free things I find, etc. I’m always looking for new ideas! Just reply to the newsletter and you’ll be able to reach me.

Are you qualified to write this?

There are teachers who are far more experienced, far more articulate, far better in the classroom than I. I know, because I work with lots of them! But I’m not really doing this because I think I’ve arrived, but because I think it’s what I should be doing right now. If you find that all the ideas in the newsletter are old news to you, please send me something new or more in depth that you’d rather see!
